Nine dad-daughter teams with game
Marika, Isabelle,
Daniela and Ivan Lendl
As a tennis star, Ivan Lendl succeeded everywhere but on grass. So it's ironic that three of his five daughters are making their marks on fairways and greens. Then again, that is Ivan's doing. "Dad wanted us to play a sport we could do throughout our lives," says Daniela, a freshman on Alabama's golf team. Ivan won eight Grand Slam titles and was ranked No. 1 for a then-record 270 weeks, but a bad back forced him to retire before he was ready. Trading his racket for clubs, he played in Nationwide and European Tour events. These days, though, he mostly watches his girls. Marika just finished her career at Florida. Isabelle (pictured here), who'll be a senior with the Gators this fall, shot a 66 in the final round of the NCAA championship, matching the tourney's best score; she then won the Eastern Amateur Championship. A Lendl may conquer grass yet.
