NHL: Don't look now but we've got ourselves a 2-2 series in the Stanley Cup finals. Inspired by a Bobby Orr appearance during a pre-game tribute to Nathan Horton (out for the series with a concussion), the Bruins dominated in a 4-0 whitewashing of the Canucks last night in Boston. Goalie Tim Thomas was stellar, making 38 saves en route to his third shutout this postseason.
Goals from Rich Peverley, Michael Ryder and Brad Marchand sent Vancouver's Roberto Luongo to the showers in the third period. The Canucks' star goalie gave up 12 goals in the two games in Boston. David Krejci, who assisted on two of Boston's four goals, became the sixth player in Boston history to record at least 10 goals and 10 assists in a single postseason. The two teams now head back across the continent to Vancouver for Friday night's Game 5 in what is now a best-of-three series.
MLB: With reliever Joba Chamberlain on the DL and first place in the AL East on the line, the Yankees needed a strong performance from starter A.J. Burnett against the rival Red Sox. They didn't get one in Boston's convincing 11-6 win at Yankee Stadium. David Ortiz homered for the second straight game. The Red Sox now are 7-1 against the Yankees this season and lead the division. It's not all good news for the Red Sox. Second baseman Dustin Pedroia is returning to Boston to have his knee examined.
