MLB: It is a three-way race for first place in the AL East with a total of 1.5 games separating the New York Yankees, Boston Red Sox and Tampa Bay Rays. The Yankees will get the party started in Oakland against the A's, with ace Bartolo Colon slated to take the mound for New York (4:05 p.m.). … In a rematch of the 2010 ALDS, Tampa Bay hosts the Texas Rangers (6:40 p.m.). … In a battle of the Sox, Jake Peavy gets the start as Chicago makes a trip to Fenway. The Red Sox who have won 13 of their last 16, after starting the season 0-6 (7:10 p.m.). Jon Lester is on the mound for Boston, so this one should be a great pitchers' duel.
In the National League, we've got our eyes on the San Francisco Giants-St. Louis Cardinals game from Busch Stadium (4:15 p.m.). The Cardinals are sitting atop the NL Central, while San Francisco is only a half-game out of first place in the NL West. Now that Buster Posey is out with a broken leg and torn ligaments, it's make or break (no pun intended) time for the defending World Series.
French Open: Things are heating up at Roland Garros. The fourth round singles matchups are underway. On the women's side, it's anyone's tournament. For the men, No. 1 seed Rafael Nadal has been going strong ever since he was nearly bounced by John Isner in the first round. Tune in to see if Nadal is able to continue his run and advance to the quarterfinals. Later today, No. 4 seed Andy Murray looks to continue his good streak, and women's No. 4 seed Victoria Azarenka -- the highest seed left in the tournament -- takes on Ekaterina Makarova.
