NBA: The Dallas Mavericks, who rallied from 16-point, second-half deficit, went into the Staples Center ON Monday and beat the Los Angeles Lakers 96-94 to take Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinal series. The Lakers, who let Kobe Bryant's 36 points go to waste, had a chance at the end, but Bryant missed a game-winning 3-pointer right before the buzzer.

The Atlanta Hawks shocked the top-seeded Chicago Bulls 103-95 to take Game 1 of their Eastern Conference semifinal series. And if the loss wasn't bad enough, reported MVP winner Derrick Rose twisted his ankle in the final seconds -- the same one he sprained during Game 4 of the quarterfinals against the Pacers.

Following their last home game of the season, Sacramento Kings fans stayed in their seats -- some with tears in their eyes -- expecting to wave goodbye to their NBA team. Turns out the Kings, who were expected to move to Anaheim, will remain in Sacramento for at least another year, giving the city one more chance to build them a new stadium.

NHL: The Philadelphia Flyers lost their second straight playoff game on their home ice. The Flyers fell 3-2 in overtime to the Boston Bruins, giving the Bruins a 2-0 second-round series lead. The news goes from bad to worse for Philadelphia: The series goes to Boston for the next two games.

MLB: The Boston Red Sox picked up a 9-5 victory Monday night, handing Los Angeles Angels' ace Jered Weaver his first loss of the season. Weaver, who's now 6-1 on the year, was trying to become the first pitcher since 1891 to go 7-0 by May 2.
