Liriano's no-no was his 95th major league start, but Tuesday marked the first time he'd ever thrown a complete game. He also became the first pitcher named Francisco to toss a no-hitter.
NBA: The Miami Heat jumped out to a 2-0 lead in their Eastern Conference semifinal series after beating the Boston Celtics 102-91 Tuesday night. Dwyane Wade (with 28 points) and LeBron James (with 35) combined for more than half of the Heat's points.
The Oklahoma City Thunder defeated the Memphis Grizzlies 111-102 to even their Western Conference semifinal series up at one game apiece.
Chicago Bulls guard Derrick Rose was named the league's MVP. At 22, he's the youngest player in NBA history to win the award.
NHL: The top-seeded Washington Capitals are hanging by a thread after losing 4-3 to the Tampa Bay Lightning. From now on it's do-or-die for Washington, which trails the Lightning 3-0 in their second-round Eastern Conference series. Only three playoff teams in history have ever overcome a 3-0 series deficit.
The other top seed, the Vancouver Canucks, grabbed a 2-1 advantage in their second-round Western Conference series after beating the Nashville Predators 3-2 in overtime.
Women's tennis: Authorities have charged a man with stalking Serena Williams after he allegedly tried to walk into her gated South Florida subdivision. Palm Beach Gardens police said Patenema Ouedraogo, 40, told officers he was headed to Williams' house Monday night "because he loves her" and "he knows the feelings are reciprocal." He's being held on $25,000 bond.
