NBA: Kevin Love will try to write his name in the NBA history books with the most consecutive double-doubles as the Timberwolves take on the Indiana Pacers at 8 p.m. tonight. If Love gets a double-double he will pass Hall of Famer Moses Malone, along with Love, who holds the record at 51 in a row over two seasons in 1978-79. Love has an injured knee that might effect his rebounding, but his passion to break the record could secure his place in history. Love's accomplishment is big for Minnesota, but the team is still struggling in last place in the West with a 15-50 record. They were the first team in the West to be eliminated from playoff contention.
Men's college basketball: You're in for some afternoon delight as the No. 19 Huskies facethe No. 22 Hoyas in the second round of the Big East tournament under the bright lights of Madison Square Garden. The game is in progress so I suggest you sneak away for lunch at work to catch it on ESPN. However if you are fired, don't blame me. Connecticut comes in with six Big East championship wins under its belt, but Georgetown has tasted victory more recently winning the in 2007.
If you can't sneak away for that game, maybe you can fake a cold and get home in time for the 2 p.m. matchup between fifth seed St. John's and 13th-seeded Rutgers. The Red Storm are riding on their familiarity of their home court to bring them success in this afternoon's game. St. John's went 7-1 at MSG with wins over big programs like Georgetown, Notre Dame, Duke, Connecticut and No. 1 seed Pittsburgh.
Women's college basketball: It's a Lone Star state showdown between Texas and No. 8 ranked Texas A&M in the Big 12 tournament quarterfinals at 6 p.m. The defending tournament champion Aggies seem to have Texas' number, winning 11 of the last 12 in their series. Longhorns coach Gail Goestenkors is 0-9 against the Aggies at Texas.
